How to tie your shoelaces

Tying shoelaces may be much more important than you think. When you are going out for a run or just going for a walk in general, it's important that running shoes fit correctly and stay securely on your feet. Running can be a bit uncomfortable for some due to their shoes, so it’s important that they fit as well as possible for a more comfortable experience. Here’s a little guide on how to tie your shoelaces and what it’s wise to keep in mind.

Have you ever wondered why there’s an extra hole on each side when you buy new shoes? The extra hole is positioned so high that it doesn’t feel entirely natural to use it. Many don’t know what it is for, but it has a function that should be used and tested.

Here’s what to do for a better result:

  • Remove the lace from the second to last hole and feed it into the top hole.
  • Pull the lace through to create a small loop.
  • Do this on both sides.
  • Then take the lace from one side over to the other and through the loop.
  • Pull tight and tie together.
  • Check that the shoes are securely fastened.

 How to wash shoelaces?

Our running shoes can easily be washed in the washing machine, but it's important to remove the shoelaces and insoles first. To wash the shoes properly, you can do the following:

  1. Use mild soap. The chemicals in laundry detergent can be too harsh for the material.
  2. Apply soap on the area you want to clean and dampen it with cold water.
  3. Gently rub with a cloth on the stain until it is gone from the shoelaces.
  4. Remove soap residue with a damp cloth and let it air dry.
