How to get started with training
Do you want to start working out or get back to training after a break? Are you missing the right workout motivation to get started?
Tips to start your workout journey
Train with others
Working out with others makes it easier to get started. It can feel more challenging to skip a workout when you have an appointment with a friend or others. It can also be extra motivating and fun when you have someone to train with.

Home workouts
Exercising at home provides more flexibility. For some, it can be extra challenging to get to the gym, and the threshold can feel far. For others, it can be uncomfortable to work out with many others around. Home workouts can be a good solution to establish a workout routine that works for you. You don't need a lot of equipment to have a great workout session, and you can use your imagination and furniture as aids. There are also some companies or personal trainers who offer online training, either on their website or on YouTube, so you can easily follow the workout from your living room.

Learn to love running
Running is one of the best and simplest forms of exercise and a fantastic way to get in shape. If you want to escape the stress of everyday life, listen to music or a podcast, and feel the wind or just enjoy nature – then this is a perfect form of exercise. There’s also nothing stopping you from combining it with a friend or partner – have a little running date or help each other stay motivated!
Getting started with running isn't a complicated task, as the hardest part is actually beginning. It requires minimal equipment, and you can start running as soon as you step out the door; you don’t need advanced gear like GPS watches, complicated training plans, or a course on how to run.
To elaborate on the last point, there are a few things you should have for running. In addition to good shoes and appropriate clothing, it’s very important to make a plan for yourself and possibly with a running partner. The plan should enhance motivation, be encouraging, and prepare you for the next time!
Initially, it's fine to just plan how often you will run, and a 30-minute session is perfect, but feel free to build on how much and how fast over time. Also, include variation in your route. If you run in your local area, see if you can get into the woods or find a trail.
Last but not least, set goals. Motivation can often be closely tied to a specific goal. Keep it simple but make sure it’s realistic, measurable, and time-bound. As mentioned earlier, 30 minutes is a perfect start. Try to set a goal where you continuously aim to run for 30 minutes, and that you should be able to achieve it within a specific timeframe.

Create a workout program
A workout program can be a tool that helps you plan your workout sessions while logging your performances. This can be both motivating to look back on but also make the workout more exciting to complete. This way, you often feel more secure when you have a plan of what to expect, and this function has a workout diary. It can be easier to complete the workout session if you know what to expect during the training. Lack of a plan can lead to a poor session, especially if you haven't worked out much before.
Take pictures along the way so you can easily look back on your progress. For many, it can be very motivating to see their own development. The results can be more visible than you think, so it can be motivating to compare the photos after a while.

Find a personal trainer
For some, it can be easier to start training if they have a personal trainer. For many, it can feel more binding than training with a friend. A scheduled appointment can be crucial and what it takes to actually maintain training. This can be helpful whether you're struggling with motivation or if you’re unsure about which exercises to perform to achieve the results you want. A personal trainer can ensure you get a tailored workout program and there’s less risk of injury or overload. For some, just a few sessions with a personal trainer is enough to get started with their training.

Find inspiration on social media
Social media makes it easier for you to find inspiration for various exercises that you can perform both at the gym and during home workouts. There are many influencers who create good and descriptive sessions and include videos of the exercises. This is a useful tool if you’re unsure how an exercise is performed in practice or if you’re hesitant to experiment in the gym. This can help you feel more comfortable with the equipment or exercises at the gym.
P.S.: Save the videos you want to use so you can easily find them again!
