Leggings guide - everything you need to know!
The Ultimate Leggings Guide
Buying training leggings can seem like a challenge when you start looking at all the variations available on the market. How do you know which type of fabric, shape, features, and size is best for you? However, it doesn’t have to be as difficult as you might think. In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know for your next leggings purchase. Sizes, fabric, type of exercise, features. Everything you ever wondered about to make it easier for you to find your ultimate leggings.
Seamless Training Leggings
Seamless, or seamless garments, are clothing items that (mostly) are produced by a circular knitting machine, knitted as a tube to avoid seams in the garment. This results in soft and comfortable clothing that provides good freedom of movement and feels light on the body. We have a wide selection of seamless garments with various features for you to choose from.
Leggings with Seams
In our leggings that are not made with seamless construction, we use high-quality fabric that is sewn together with stitches designed for both functionality and aesthetics. Essential Leggings are a great alternative if you want a pair of leggings with seams. These offer good compression, are high-waisted, and have an elastic fabric with high density.
Warp Knit
Warp knit seamless is a technique in seamless production that results in very elastic, breathable, and durable garments. The technology tightly binds the yarn together with parallel loops tied in a zigzag pattern. Several of our garments are produced with this technology, including Agility Leggings and Stamina Leggings.
Weft Knit
Weft knit is another production technique that differs from warp knit by being knitted from left to right in rows instead of warps vertical knitting moving up and down the garment. The advantage of weft technology is that it creates garments that are stretchy and comfortable, but also insulate well and retain heat in cold environments. Most seamless garments are made with this technology.
Wool Leggings
Our Wool Knit Leggings are made from merino wool and are super soft, anti-static, and moisture-wicking. These leggings provide good insulation against the cold and are perfect for a winter run as well as for lounging at home.
Activities
Leggings for Running
To choose the best leggings for running, there are several things you should consider. For example, you want leggings that enhance your running movement, do not slip down during your run, and suit the temperature you’ll be running in. Most running leggings are sewn (not seamless) to support the typical running motion, but if you want versatile leggings that allow for good movement in all directions, a seamless legging with a strong waistband that fits well on the body can also be a great alternative. Techna Leggings are some of our best running leggings. If you are going out for a run in the cold, our soft Softy Leggings could also be a great candidate.
Leggings for Strength Training
The best leggings for strength training are those that provide good support, are not easily see-through, and allow for good freedom of movement. Also, make sure that the leggings are high-waisted and fit well, so they do not slip down during your workout. Leggings like Softy Leggings from Famme are well-suited for this type of training.
Leggings for Yoga
The best yoga leggings are typically either a pair of pants or leggings made of soft and stretchy fabric that provides good freedom of movement. You can choose a classic yoga pant with flared legs or a more fitted, yet soft legging such as our Softy Leggings.
Leggings for Everyday Use
We are big advocates of using leggings for everyday wear as well. For everyday use, you have slightly different needs than during intense strength training. For example, you may want to ensure that you have leggings that are extra flattering, have a cool design, and are comfortable to wear for long periods. For everyday use, we recommend the popular alternatives Ribbed Flare Pants, Scrunch Flared Leggings, and Softy Leggings.
